About Scott’s Frame and Mat LLC

William Scott Harder, Artist and Art History Buff, began his framing career in 1978 in Ketchum, Idaho. His interest in art restoration led him to study math and chemistry at Boise State University in 1981.

The 70’s trend of inexpensive framing switched gears in the 80’s when the region experienced tremendous growth in contract framing, primarily in public places like hotels and office buildings. Keeping pace with these changes and a growing economy, Scott formed Scott’s Frame and Mat LLC in 1985 and opened a small Corner Gallery and Frame Shop. The gallery was dedicated to poster art, emerging artists, fine photography and was supported by picture framing operations. The frame shop and its team focused on creating a unique aesthetic, constantly developing new methods to meet its demands. These same demands lead to the expansion of the business and Scott’s Frame and Mat LLC moved to its current location in 1986 where SFM Picture Frames began.
